Hi Sue, it's nice that you can get an early start for the cottage. Hopefully you didn't hit much holiday traffic. My group still hasn't been picked for jury service, so I was able to go to a follow-up appointment with my orthopedist. I've made very good progress on the flexibility of my wrist but my squeezing strength still isn't as good as he would like. I have to continue my home exercises and go back in another six weeks.
I was surprised to find wet streets when I got up this morning. Though there were dark clouds overhead, I wore shorts as I went on my early walk. It's now almost 1PM and it's still overcast and in the mid 60's, a nice day to work in the garden.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Good morning, Sue! lol, I took 2 suitcases and David took 1.
Today’s Picture! "Inside the Station"
Today’s Picture! "Train Tracks"
On Wednesday I ran a few errands...one of those including developing my pictures. I went to the other CVS in town and their Kodak machine was working. So I developed all 109 pictures (several of these were pics were from Mother’s Day). After that I went to Uncle John’s house and mowed his lawn. Once his lawn was mowed, I went to Carlson’s to buy Grandma a hot dog and Alivia a root beer. At 3:15 pm, I meet up with Alivia at the Nursing Home..she wanted to see my Grandma with me. :) I also got to meet Alivia’s two little kids (her 7 year old boy and her 3 year daughter). They were adorable and a riot! lol. The visit with Grandma went well. She enjoyed the extra visitors, the hot dog, and the Washington DC pics. Alivia also loved the pics too!
After the good visit, I worked a 5 pm - 1 am shift in grocery, with Rev. Kevin. For the first hour, we finished putting up the load. Then we started facing the store (Aisles 12-10; 8-5). After Aisle 5 we took our first break. After our break, I helped Rev. Kevin face Aisles 4 & 3. Then I got called up front to help bag and then I went to the Dairy department to fill sale items. Once they were filled, I filled up the milk. After Dairy items were filled, I met up with Rev. Kevin and we got the ordering guns out. I ordered baby food aisle and aisle 4. Once ordering was complete we took our 2nd break. We ended our shift by facing Frozen and Dairy and refacing the store after it closed.
Have a great day!

Good Morning Sue, Photo by Ken Gagne posted on the County web page.
Have a good extended weekend. You won't be at work when you read these. Mid-Life conclusion.
Mid-life is when you want to grab every firm young lovely in a tube top and scream, "Listen, honey, even the Roman Empire fell, and those things will too!
Mid-life is when you start to repeat yourself...and your chins follow suit.
You become more reflective in mid-life. You start pondering the "big" questions -- what is life, why am I here...how much Healthy Choice ice cream can I eat before it's no longer a healthy choice?
Wishing you a pleasant Thursday on World Turtle Day!

Good morning Sue!
None of the plants from Lowe's grew this spring. Five plants that were 2.5 qts each did not make it thru the winter. All were for my -30 below zone. Enjoy your w/e!
Left for Gorham, NH at 7:10 AM for an 8 o'clock appointment. There is never traffic here. We do have the equivalent, that is the school bus. Didn't mind waiting for the kids to get on the bus for school. One mom wanted a 10 minute conversation with the bus driver. Did roll down the window and say, "Lady some of us have appointments." The bus quickly drove off.
Arrived on time and it did not matter. The mechanic that was to work on my car didn't arrive until 30 minutes after the scheduled 8 AM start. He lost his g/f who was 24 y/o to a fatal auto accident just 30 days ago.
Watched Good Morning America in the waiting room. There is a 6 foot long window to the service bay. The technician returned to tell me the each other tie rod end needed replacement.
Went in the bay w/the assistant mgr and saw for myself that each side had lots of play. Living on a gravel road with pot holes in the spring sees lots of tie rod ends wear prematurely.
The mechanic checked each tire for the correct air, balanced them, then gave me a four wheel thrust alignment to ensure the front and back axles were parallel, then gave me a front end alignment. Bought the lifetime package when the tire were purchased, so all but the tie rod ends was free. Normally it is worth $120 or a little bit more. The tie rod ends, with labor were a fabulous cost of $76 each.
Returned home at 12:30 PM looked at the tall lawn, came in the house had lunch, then for dessert a slice of the seedless whole watermelon bought 2 weeks ago for $4.99.
A 2 cup slice of watermelon has ⅓ of a day's vitamin A & C, a nice shot of potassium, and a healthy dose of lycopene for only 85 fat-free & salt-free calories. It is a Super Food, for better health.
The temp is 56° with the high to be 79°. There is a 90% chance of rain and a t-storm. Can hear thunder in the distance. Will shop at the market and several other stores.
Have a fantastic day!

Good morning Midnight, TUrtLE, wing-nut & jj!
I'm heading out later this morning for a nice (?) weekend at the cottage so behave yourself all!
That's quite a bit of rain that you got Midnight. I have no clue how much we've got but it's been quite a bit. I can't believe that your plants from Lowes didn't make it, I remember you talking about planting them last year. Congrats on the free sub!
Missing you today fill!
LOL, you got me laughing again TT. It's hard to contain myself here at work.
Dark here wing-nut, lol.
Gee jj, you took that much with you for DC? I don't even take that much with me for a weekend away. :/
Have a great holiday weekend all!

Good morning, Sue! DC pics start today!! lol, I uploaded several to FB already.
Today’s Picture! "Suitcases!" Washington DC Premiere
Today’s Picture! "Train Station"
Yesterday afternoon I took it easy and did several tasks around the house. I worked another 3:30 pm - 8 pm shift in the flower tent. This time around it was slow for the first couple of hours. I didn’t do my first sale until around 5 pm. Mom & Dad dropped by and bought a couple of things....lol. :) Between 5:30 pm and 6:30 pm was the busiest time. But overall the tent was just a little busier than yesterday. After closing down the tent from 7 - 7:30 pm, I spent the last 30 minutes of my shift bagging.
After work I came home and Mom made dinner for us....turkey sausage, baked potato, and corn-on-the-cob. It was a great tasting dinner! While eating I was able to watch part of the White Sox game (they ended up winning 3-1). After that I went to CVS to develop my Washington DC pictures, but the machine was still down. I’ll go back today and if it is still down, I will go to another store that has a Kodak picture machine in it. After my failed attempt, I stopped by Al’s and chatted with Jan. :) I ended my night by watching an episode of “Grmm” on my DVR. This morning while eating some waffles for breakfast I watched the season finale of “Once Upon A Time” on my DVR.
Have a great day!

Good Morning Sue,
More is here. Will conclude on Thursday so I can post about Saturday's full moon on Friday. Mid-Life cont. Mid-life women no longer have upper arms, we have wingspans...we are no longer women in sleeveless shirts, we are flying squir***** in drag.
Mid-life has hit you when you stand naked in front of a mirror and can see your rear end without turning around.
Mid-life brings the wisdom that life throws you curves...and that you're now sitting on your biggest ones.
Happy Holiday coming soon!

Good morning Sue!
E.S., gives the plants needed magnesium that allow them to absorb the other elements for strong and rapid growth. All veggies and plant need a dose a couple times each year, every 2 weeks to a month is best. Under $2 for 3 lbs at WM. Did write about it several times last year. Use Expert W & F from Wm at $12.97 for a 40 bag, It covers 5000 sq ft and works exactly the same as a $30 bag from Scotts.
About 7AM there was the sound of thunder. Then rained severely at times, .37 inches/.94 cm of rain in 3 hours. Completed more paperwork, watched an early episode of CSI Miami, then went outdoors when the rain stopped.
Dug up the area soil four perennials were bought at Lowe's during the end of May 1 year ago. Really nice looking 2.5 quart containers of Gaillardia, coreopsis, Veronica, & Butterfly blue pin cushions. Not any sign of growth. Dug all four spots up only found the roots of the coreopsis.
The store needs the roots of all plants returns. So I'm out $19.44 and still need to fill those spots w/plants for zone 2-3 -25° to -35° below 0 (-31.6C° to -37.2C°). It's off to the local mom & pop flower farm on the return from a trip to the east side of the state.
Did stop in the usual Subway store and get a footlong chicken teriyaki loaded with veggies. Went to pay the $4 + .36 tax, the Regional Mgr said it was free. My receipt was drawn from the free sandwich of the week in their cookie bowl. My name and phone number on it. Thank you was said several times!
Had hoped to mow the lawn beginning with the 25% not cut last week. The lawn was soaked at 2:30 PM so a return inside to post this was done. Yes the Weed & Feed works so well when it rains. Thinking of asking around to find a teenager, or an unemployed dad to cut my lawn each week.
The temp is 50° with the high to be 77°. There is a 70% chance rain and t-storms. It is lightly raining. Have an 8 AM appointment on the east side of the state to get my tires rotated, balanced, and have a free two axle 'thrust alignment' and a front end alignment.
This was a $120 cost for a lifetime of free unlimited uses (this is my 3rd time) when the new replacement tires were prorated late summer at a fabulous cost of $30 each. Plan to stop at that area's local Walmart and see what they have for plants.
Have a fabulous day!

Good afternoon HappyHiker, Midnight, fill, TUrtLE, wing-nut & jj!
I'm looking forward to this weekend again so I can enjoy the cottage even more HappyHiker. The best is I don't have to wear the boot anymore. I was released by the Dr. today, told not to come back unless I did something to the foot. Yipee! Hope you get the call again saying you don't need to report to jury duty tomorrow too.
It is nice Midnight, we've got to enjoy it while we can. We had rain last night, this afternoon and are expecting more later this evening. I'm hoping it waits to start until after I get to work. I'm getting faster on my feet so maybe I wouldn't get to soaked. What does the Epson salt do for the plants? Doesn't it keep slugs away? Also, what kind of weed & feed do you use? Thanks!
Heck no, no winter clothes until I head to AK in August fill. There not allowed anymore. ;)
LOL, love love love the mid-life series TT. I can't wait to read more of them.
Everyone must be getting showers wing-nut, as long as the tornadoes stay away I don't mind.
Yipee, I get to see your DC pictures jj. Have you loaded any to fb yet? Good pictures of you & your mom then you & your grandma.
Have a great night all!

Good morning, Sue! Mom put the dragonfly to the right of the TV in the living room....right near the kitchen. I think it's a great spot! Thanks for reading my long update. :) Pictures from the trip start tomorrow!
Today’s Picture! "Mom & Me"
Today’s Picture! "Mom & Grandma"
David’s Uncle, John, needed his boat cleaned, so he hired me to do it. Yesterday I spent a couples of hours cleaning his boat. After that Uncle John treated me out for a quick lunch at Burger King and then paid me. I worked 3:15 pm - 8 pm in the Flower Tent. The tent is now suppose to be up through Memorial Day. Sadly, it was very slow and we barely did any business. I spent most of the time sweeping and then putting the tent walls back up. Then at 7 pm, when the tent closed, I helped bring carts in. Then at 7:30 pm I came in and did some go-backs.
After work I came home for a bit and then went to Ian’s house. He was busy with his latest project, selling phone cases. Well, as he was doing that I looked at my beat up phone case. I was thinking about getting a new phone case anyways. So I had Ian do his sale pitch and I ended up buying a new phone case! After that it was decided that I would spend the night, so I came home and packed up a few things. At 12:30 am, I also went to Al’s to give Katie a ride home. :) Once she was home, I was on my way back to Ian’s. The next couple of hours were spent chatting about various things....good to catch up with him!
This morning at 8:30 am, Ian and I met David at his house. We decided to grab some breakfast at Memo’s to begin our day. I had the biscuits & gravy. After that we all rode around and chatted. Then I dropped Ian back off and started my day at home.
Have a nice day!

Good Morning Sue, New Series-Mid Life
Mid-life is when you go to the doctor and you realize you are now so ol*, you have to pay someone to look at you naked.
The good news about mid-life is that the glass is still half- full...of course, the bad news is that it won't be long before your teeth are floating in it.
Have A terrific Tuesday!

Good morning Sue!
Boating on the lakes must have been fun to repeat it this coming w/e.
It rained moderately in the morning. Made phone calls for nearly two hours, then needed a break. Watched a Star Trek, Next Generation show then NCIS Miami on Netflix. No stops for commercials is wonderful. The rain stopped late morning
Headed outdoors to my gardens for routine weed maintenance. The tomatoes and broccoli have grown as have the strawberry plants and the Concord grape vine. Tiny clumps of grapes have appeared.
Will prune back new vine growth to give the grapes all the energy needed to produce. The vine is inside the chicken wire walls and roof netting. Found two slugs on a leave. Threw them far away, they have lots of other greenery to feast.
Sprinkled some Epson salt around each plant. Then the winter's compost of veggies remains were moved to behind the last row of broccoli and tomatoes. Soil was added. These roots will eventually enter and gain the extra nutrients.
Saw lots of worms with the soil was turned over w/a long handle shovel. The worms will be happy with the vegetable matter and help to speed the compost process. The lawn was too wet to mow. The 25% not mowed last week sure is looking like a jungle.
The 75% mowed is growing rapidly with the Weed & Feed. See the weeds shriving up and the grass Kelly green. One fine investment to add W&F for less than $13 a bag. Need to buy several more bags for other sections of the lawn. Lots of rain on the way thru Thursday.
The temp is 48°with the high to be 66°. There is a 70% chance of rain.
Have a wonderful day!

Hi Sue, I'm so glad to hear that you had a nice weekend at the cottage. I know that I enjoyed the three days on the lake at the condo with D and SIL while I was visiting them in Texas. We didn't have a boat there, but son took me out on his twice, out into the Bay and another day on the canals that lace his neighborhood - nice!
I didn't have to report for jury duty today, so I'm having a relaxing day at home until my Bible Study group tonight. I have to call in at 5PM to see if I have to report to court tomorrow. My fingers are crossed.
Have a good afternoon and evening.

Love the Dragonfly jj, where did your mom decide to put it? I did ready your L O N G detailed report about your trip, can't wait to see pictures from it.

Good morning, Sue! Great that your weekend went well!
Today’s Picture! "Mom & Breakfast"
Today’s Picture! "Dragonfly"
Yesterday, I attended my church’s Parish Life meeting at 10:30 am. The main topics consisted of a Graduation Banquet and an upcoming celebration for Father Frank’s leaving. After the meeting, I came home and read some more of “Black Like Me”. Then Mom and I went out for lunch at Chili’s. We both had the Chicken Crispers. My two sides were fries and corn-on-the-cob. We used a buy one get one free coupon, so the lunch was very cheap! :D After lunch, we both came home and enjoyed a nice Sunday nap.
I worked a 4 pm - 10 pm shift in grocery. I began by pulling expired Temporary Price Reduction signs. By 5 pm, I began facing in Aisle 12 (Billy started in Aisle 1). I faced Aisles 12-10; 8-7. While facing, I also checked for out dates. After Aisle 7, I took my break. I continued on facing with Aisles 6-5 when I got back. Many out dates were found in Aisle 5. In total for the day, all of the stockers found a combined total of 9 carts full of outdated product. :/ Around 9:30 pm, I presented to Alivia her souvenir gift (an American bead bracelet). She loved it! :) I started facing Aisle 4 after that, and by 10 pm it was time to go. Before leaving I gave Katie her American bead bracelet and she also loved it!
Since Katie needed a ride home at 12:30 am, I stayed up when I got home. I watched an episode of “2 Broke Girls” on my DVR and then read some more of “Black Like Me”. Once Katie was home...safe and sound...I went to sleep.
Have a nice day!

Good Morning Sue, If you haven't done so yet, please see GR, Grrrrr! Beginning the week with another :-))
A Hole Problem:
The boss ordered one of his men to dig a hole eight feet deep. After the job was completed the boss returned and explained an error had been made and the hole wouldn't be needed. "Fill 'er up," he ordered.
The worker did as he'd been told. But he ran into a problem. He couldn't get all the dirt packed back into the hole without leaving a mound on top. He went to the office and explained his problem.
The boss snorted. "Honestly! The kind of help you get these days! There's obviously only one thing to do. You'll have to dig that hole deeper!"
Are you smiling? Happy Monday!

Hi Sue, I'm thinking that you're at the cottage this weekend and I hope that you're having a wonderful, relaxing time there.
My sleep schedule still isn't back to normal but I'm slowly getting used to being home. Friday night I went to a retirement dinner for one of my teaching partners. It was great seeing so many of my former colleagues, AND my salmon dinner was delicious.
My daughter and SIL are busily exploring their new neighborhood and recently attended an Astros/Angels game. They're not yet Texans - D wore her Angels shirt and rooted for her victorious team.
My Florida son found a Presbyterian church for me to attend in his neighbor- hood, but it was nice to be back home with my own congregation this morning. It's nice to travel but also good to be back home. I completed my online orientation for jury duty this week and my group wasn't called for tomorrow. Four more days to go this week.
I have NO plans for this afternoon. I may finish going through my mail, watch TV, work in the yard, or ??? (retirement great)

Good morning, Sue!
Today’s Picture! "Boston Ferns"
Today’s Picture! "Flower Tent Entrance (Finale)"
I made it to work by 9:30 am. The manager was really happy to see me and told another person “now that’s my man” haha. By 11 am, my eyes started to get blurry. Then a migraine developed and I asked the Front-End Manager if I could take a break. At 11:30 am I punched out and never punched back in. I felt like I was going to throw up and was very shaky. At noon the manager took me home since they didn’t want me to drive home. I thought about it later, and I think it’s a combination of not being properly hydrated over the past week and how I haven’t had a complete 8 hours of sleep in over a week. Oh well, at least I got two hours in of work.
After a 2 hour nap, I felt well enough to eat. I had a few bowls of chicken noodle soup and some crackers. Then I took another hour snooze. Once my snooze was finished Mom took me back to Al’s in Dad’s car so I could pick up my car. For the rest of the afternoon, I relaxed, watched part of the White Sox game, and started reading “Black Like Me”. At 6:20 pm, I went to take Mom to see “The Great Gatsby”. I didn’t mind seeing it a 2nd time and Mom enjoyed it very much! After dropping Mom off, I stopped at Al’s to chat with Rev. Kevin and catch up with him. Hopefully soon me, him, and his wife can get together for lunch soon. That’s when I will show Rev. all the pictures and tell the complete story of my vacation. :)
I ended my night by first going for a nighttime ride with my buddy Jeff. Then, I watched an episode of “Once Upon A Time” on my DVR. My sleep was still on and off, but I feel fine this morning. I’m making sure to drink plenty of water!! :) As usual, Mom and I went to church at 7:30 am.
Happy Sunday!

Good morning Sue!
How was your w/e?!
Began the day by visiting the Town Tax Collector. There is a discrepancy of $211 extra the town (somehow) added to my Dec tax. Showed her my receipts, she noted the difference in my receipts, and her tax computer. She will explain this to the Selectman so there won't be a big to do and the difference is to be abated. That is plan.
Then it was a drive to take my recyclables to the Center. Am surprised at the extent of materials that accumulates all week. Saw some familiar faces and met some new ones.
Drove to town to full up the gas tank. Prices went up 3¢ from midweek. Now at $3.42 for reg. Up 10¢ from the low of $3.32 the beginning of May. Passed looking for deals at the Sat morning supermarket. Have too much in the freezer and still have the spiral ham, chicken breasts, cooked veges, and the spare ribs cooked on Friday.
Headed to Littleton to photocopy much paperwork at Staples needed to send to continue the claim on my mother's Estate. Volumes of paperwork and many, way too many forms to complete and mail.
Stopped to visit my pal the mgr at Rite Aid. We talked about everything from current baseball to nostalgia from days long gone by. Stopped in to get a $4 Footlong on any sub regularly under $7.50. It is NH customer appreciation days for the next four days, thru Wed. A Footlong is a Giant meal and $4 is on fabulous low price.
Returned home to get more paperwork done and look at how tall the 25% of the lawn not cut is. Even the other parts that have Weed & Feed are growing out of control.
The temp is 38° with the high to be 68° in partly cloudy skies. Glad the rain has missed this area. Rain is due Monday thru Wed.
Have a splendid day!

Good morning, Sue!

After posting on GB yesterday, I gave Katie a ride to work at Al’s. Then I walked around and chatted with a few people. I also checked next week’s schedule. When I got back home I had lunch (leftovers from Aunt Gie’s dinner) and watched an episode of “Shark Tank” on my DVR. After lunch, Mom and I ran a few errands. At 3:30 pm, I greeted my Dad as he walked home from work. Told Mom & Dad about my trip and gave them their souvenirs. Then at 4 pm I went to visit Grandma. Told her all about my trip. I promised her next time that I would bring her food and bring her the 100+ pictures (I will develop them on Tuesday).
Once I got back home I caught up with a few things and rested up. I also watched some the last 2 hours of my White Sox game, they won 3-0. At 7:30 am I gave Katie a ride to work at corporate. She is now being trained to be a trainer. :). At 8:30 am, the assistant manager called and asked if I could cashier 9:30 am - 6 pm today...I said yes. So I’ll call into the radio show for my gas prediction and then go to work. So I only have time for quick replies today, sorry. :/
Have a nice day!

Good morning Sue!
Emptied the crock pot of the remaining chicken breast, washed it and added the spare ribs bought a few days ago to it along with 4 oz of water, minced garlic, some green beans, and Brussel sprouts. Did lots of paperwork on my mom's estate this morning. Tired of it already and there is so much more to complete at some point. Needed to relax and watch an episode of Columbo. It starred Johnny Cash. Peter Falk as Columbo haunts the murderer repeatedly until he gets his wo/man.
At noon the crock pot was turned off the and my backpack was strapped on. Shorts and t-shirt were worn as the temp was 57° with scattered clouds. Down the mountain we went. The dog was particularly happy and wagged her tail.
The confluence of the two brooks was pleasing with great stereo sounds as the water poured down moss covered boulders. It was difficult at first to loosen up my legs. My right knee hurt at least six times and it was feared that an about face would have to be made. That did not happen.
It is true the first mile is the most difficult and it took that distance to limber up. At the first hay fields at the sugar maple trees, the lovely spring colors of the new leaves and the mountains in far into Vermont, now a deep Kelly green stimulated my soul.
No longer spring peepers at the small pond, the pace was picked up on the slope that passes the 4 story farmhouse and matching barn. No cows were in sight. Could not even see the yellow plastic insulators on the rods on the other side of the electric fence.
Lots of birds were singing happy songs, no jets, cars, or people to hear. Did notice the first swarm of mosquitos. Ran ahead quickly. My neighbor to the south was up from MA mowing his lawn. We waved as his energetic dog ran back and forth excitedly never coming within 4 feet of the Invisible Fence.
My dog is on her leash just before that custom built log cabin. Right after passing the house the mail carrier drove up and parked. The dog was wagging her head rapidly as the woman dropped a dog bone cookie.
The dog sat, wagged her tail, and begged for another. "It's been a while," the carrier said as another cookie was given to the dog. She mentioned a tan dog slipped out of her collar on a run 3 weeks ago and to keep an eye out for her.
This mountain loop road hike is an engaging 4¼ miles with an rise in elevation of 650 worthy feet.
The temp is 42° with the high to be 68° in mostly sunny skies.
Have a tremendous day!

Short update for rounds This is the short update version of my vacation. I'm posting this at all the spots that are on my GB rounds list. If you want the long update, please come to My home
Tea
Around 9 pm, on Monday, David and I bordered the Amtrak train, which was running about 20 minutes late. Once bordered, we enjoyed a nice dinner consisting of a herb chicken meal. While waiting for the food, I called mom. Because the train ride was bumpy, we only got a few hours of sleep. After breakfast, I went to the scenic car and enjoyed the scenery. I also chatted with mom and dad on the phone.
The train made it in only a few minutes late. About an hour and a half later, we made it to our hotel, Quality Inn. We checked in and checked out some brochures. After checking out the brochures, we made plans of what we wanted to do during our full day in Washington. For dinner, we had a filling Chinese dinner delivered. After catching up with my parents on the phone, we both decided to call it a night early and rest up for the next day.
On Wednesday after breakfast, a van took us to another hotel. At this hotel, the tour bus picked us up. The bus driver was also our tour guide and explained about all the buildings we drove by and told us interesting history facts! We also had 5 step off locations. These were: 1. The south front of the White House 2. The Jefferson Memorial 3. The Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial / The Martin Luther King Memorial 4. The Lincoln Memorial and the US Capitol Reflecting Pool (my favorite step off) 5. Iwo Jima Memorial. After the tour bus dropped us off, I took a 2 hour nap and ate leftover Chinese food.
For dinner on Wednesday we had pizza delivered to our room. Most of Thursday morning consisted of packing and getting ready to go back home. By 11:45 am we had a taxi take us back to the station. Once at the station I went to a souvenir shop to buy some gifts. Then David and I had some burgers at Thunder Grill. By 4:05 pm, we were on the train heading home. Thankfully we made it home okay. We took the South Shore train home and once there, a friend of David’s took us back to his house. Then David gave me a ride home. Overall, I am happy with the length of the trip. One full day to tour the area and the other two days were used to rest up. :-)
Have a nice day!

Good morning Sue!
A big skeeta pop is not the finest news. Maybe they'll stay in the waters edge and not in your area. A few 90 degree days in a row will help put 'em down.
Have a fine time at the market seeing those one sees each Thursday morning. Bought Red Bartlett pears for $1.50 a lb, green bean are $1.85 a lb, Driscoll's raspberries are 3/$5 ($1.67 ea), a large broccoli bunch w/two heads are $1.35.
Also bought Maine hot house tomatoes are $1.65 a lb, Brussel sprouts are $2 a lb, cucumbers 5/$2, Soft ball size Navel oranges are 2/$1, bananas .49¢, and crimini mushrooms $3.50 a lb.
Stopped at a big box store to buy a few 6 pack annuals and centerpiece plant for my flowers in the half wine barrel. Decided on a argyranthemum for $3.68. This genus really stands out and looks like this.
Stayed outdoor for a few hours. Even in the sun it was cool enough for the black flies to swarm. Learned that mineral oil applied to the skin drowns them the easiest and lasts the longest.
Also learned from a friend that an arm in the air caused the blackflies to go for the highest spot, away from your face. Great if you want to work w/one hand high in the air. <wink> Wearing a head net helps greatly.
The temp is 46° with the high to be 64°. There is a 30% chance of rain.
Have a delightful day!

Good evening Midnight, fill, wing-nut, HappyHiker & TUrtLE!
They were just saying on tonights news that this summer will have a record breaking mosquito crop Midnight. As long as they stay away from me it will be okay, lol. You are so lucky to have such wonderful scenery nearby.
It's either frizzin' or very hot out fill. Should be a good weekend weatherwise though.
Could you send some rain this way wing-nut? We need some bad!
Welcome home HappyHiker! Just hearing you talk about all your mail reminds me of what we'll be going through in August. We always leave a big rubbermaid container on the floor for my BIL to put it in when he gets it for us. This way we know that someone is checking on the house for us too. Hopefully this time no chicken will be left out in the basement!
I say he's a smart kid TUrtLE!
Have a great day everybuddy!

Good Morning Sue, I'm going to miss KHF and Gideon, but it was good to see my ocean last evening when I made it back from Calif. to the OR Coast. I'm home! :-)
Is the young boy smart or is he smart?
Barbershop
A young boy enters a barbershop and the barber whispers to his customer, "This is the dumbest kid in the world. Watch while I prove it to you."
The barber puts a dollar bill in one hand and two quarters in the other, then calls the boy over and asks, "Which do you want, son?"
The boy takes the quarters and leaves.
"What did I tell you?" said the barber. "That kid never learns!"
Later, when the customer leaves, he sees the same young boy coming out of the ice cream store. "Hey, son! May I ask you a question? Why did you take the quarters instead of the dollar bill?"
The boy licked his cone and replied, "Because the day I take the dollar, the game's over!"
Have a Thankful Thursday!

Good morning Sue!
Hope you are rec'g great weather.
Headed to town before 9AM wanted to fill up while gas is still $3.39 a gal for reg. Stopped at the P.O. to get some important documents for my mom's estate.
Went to the local flower farm and bought four primrose plants to fill in an empty area. Bought 2 beefsteak tomato plants 12" tall that should be ready in about 70 days. Planted them deep in organic compost.
Two truckloads of cow manure and two heaping shovelful fulls of worms were delivered 15 y/a to create the new 16 x 24 foot veggie garden. It was $15 a truckload at the time.
Talked up selling them 50 crocosmia perennials.. Looking for $2 each. They retail for $8 ea. Got a free replacement for the hollyhock that did not sprout this spring. The women owner said "We are negotiating already."
Stopped at the local supermarket to find a big bargain. It was southern style pork ribs bone in marked down $6 off list price. Final cost was 2.91 lbs for $5.32. $1.82 a lb. Was so happy that a visit to the store bakery netted me a 24 ounce 8" blueberry pie for $5.99. Had a ⅓ of it for lunch, no ice cream was added. May get a half pint later.
Returned home to put the food away and then it was back to the garden for three hours. Bending over did not hurt my back. It was naturally slightly sore from the hours bending.
Several perennials were transplanted to different spots, some were dug up the were growing in my lawn, and some of the annuals were planted. Have 48 annuals for my windows boxes and to fill up some front spaces in the perennial gardens.
My dog rec'd her first tick of the year. It was deep inside her ear. It was new as the tick was flat, not blown up like after a feast of blood. Checked myself and found none. Like to get the garden and annuals early to see lots of flowers.
The temp is 48° with high to be 66°. There is a 60% chance of rain. Off to the market and to shop at several stores this morning. Want to find some deals and to buy more annuals to plant. To celebrate summer.
Have a fantastic day!

Hello Sue, I arrived home at 11:30 last night (2:30AM Florida time) and woke up at 6AM and couldn't get back to sleep. I picked up a huge bag of held mail from the post office and it took a long time to sort through the mail and recycle, shred or put it aside to read later. Then I went to my book club lunch meeting. One of the hostesses sent me home with enough leftovers for dinner and tomorrow's breakfast so I don't have to go to the grocery store until tomorrow. I plan on an early night.
Yesterday morning my son took me to the beach at the Gulf and I walked along the shore while he was out in the waves on his paddle board - a great way to spend my last morning with him. After lunch he took me out for a last spin around his neighborhood on his boat before taking me to the airport for my evening flight. Good news - I had very nice weather both in Texas and Florida while temps reached clear to 100 here back home. Only 78 today so I timed my return perfectly. My only complaint is that I'm covered with mosquito bites (in spite of the 80 bats my son has living in the bat house he built in his yard.)
I plan to sleep well tonight. Good night!
