I have the Superduty 6.7 with a 3.55 4X4 17in tires I get 20-22 running 1700rpm=68mph.
Towing 17mpg with cruse depends on the road. I am going to the 20in tires as soon as I afford them. It seems that if I can keep it below 1700 gets really good 21-22mpg. I have the program that allows me to regenerate the exhaust at my call also the computer has been setup by a diesel pro at the Ford Dealership.

my 2001 F-250 4x4 7.3l diesel manual did get 20-21mpg when I bought it, but since, with the go fast parts I put on, it's down to 17-18mpg. It has over 200,000 miles on it, and I think my injectors are shot. (a mechanics special!)

From Ford Motor Company:
"EcoBoost is a family of turbocharged, direct injected gasoline engines produced by the Ford Motor Company. Engines equipped with EcoBoost technology are designed to deliver power and torque consistent with larger displacement, naturally aspirated engines while achieving approximately 20% better fuel efficiency and 15% reduced greenhouse emissions than these same engines. Relative to the power output and fuel efficiency of hybrid and diesel technologies, Ford sees EcoBoost as an affordable and versatile alternative and intends on using it extensively in future vehicle applications."

Sure DO - I have a 2006 F250 supercab 6.0 with a 373 rear-end. I have 40k on it now and the mileage that I got from day one to today has remained the same. I get in the city between 14/16mpg (as long as I keep my foot out of it) and I get around 20 on the highway (keeping it under 2,000 rpm's and try to keep the boost under 10lbs). I tried a experiment going 75mph with cruise control and only got 17mpg on the highway. Now when I'm towing about 10,000 lbs, I try to keep it about 60mph and I get about 10/11 mpg.

Why get a diesel? Because they last WAY WAY WAY longer than gas engines, diesel cars get WAY better gas mileage than hybrids, and try towing with a gas engine. Your mileage plummets and you can't pull anything at all. I get 15.5 - 16.5 with an intake, and exhaust. 4.10 rear end, grosses about 9k unloaded. Get about 11 with a 8k fifth wheel in mountains and hills.

I have a 1999 F-250 4x4 crew cab with the 8' box. It has the 7.3l diesel and when I originally bought it, I averaged about 18 MPG (loaded or empty). Lately it has been averaging about 15 MPG.
I think that when I bought it from the dealership, it had been flashed by the original owners. When I brought it in for repairs, I noticed that the gas mileage dropped and the performance seemed slower. That is why I believe that something was changed. Ford stated that they had to flash the computer with the latest upgrades, which automatically reverts the memory to factory specs.
I should have bought one of those flash kits, but I never got around to it. I'm looking to upgrade, but I figure I will wait until the new 2011's come out, since I have heard nothing but bad things about the 6.0 and 6.4 (gas mileage and engine problems).
I know, my picture shows a '65 Chevrolet, but that is my toy truck that I am restoring. The F-250 is my daily driver, along with my wife's '05 Lincoln Navigator. I have 217,000 miles on my 7.3

We've got a 2006 diesel crew cab Lariat F-250, 4 x 4. Not sure if it has a 3.73 rear end though. 13 mpg city and 18 highway.

I understand that, but in Texas we need trucks for various things. Im just trying to figure out if anyone owns a Ford diesel with the following specs, and if they do what kind of MPG they are getting with theirs.

Such a truck would get terrible gas mileage. It's not cheaper than the gasoline version.
