So in the next quarter, Verizon will release the Droid Bionic, and sometime in the 3rd or 4th quarter, will release the iPhone 5. Is it worth the wait to get the iphone, or is the Bionic superior? Is there another phone that competes?

Without a doubt the best phone right now on Verizon is the Galaxy Nexus, nothing else they offer comes close.

The restriction against voice and data at the same time is due to a CDMA limitation.

iPhone for proven record of usability, dependability, quality, resale value, etc. The others don't come close. :)

In answer to Bell's question, the Verizon phones are now more than capable of talking and surfing at the same time. The problem was not with Verizon but the phones did not have operating systems that would handle it. They now do have phones that do it very well.

I recently upgraded my Verizon phone and did a ton of research on the whole phone thing. Far and away the best phone out there right now is the Motorola Droid RAZR Maxx. It will soon have Droid 4.0 and right now it just blows away any of the competition. The iPhone isn't even close. If you don't believe me, go look at the phones without your Apple blinders on.

This whole iPhone vs Android is very interesting. Apple's marketing approach has always been to go it alone with their products. In the past this has cost Apple dearly. Recently with the success of the iPad and iPhones they have appeared to win. However, they are up against some stiff competition. Google, Motorola, Samsung, and the list goes on and on are moving the Android Market. There is a lot of money and savvy that they are up against. If I were a betting man I would put my money for the long haul on the Android side.

99% of my cellular use is web access now. Hardly any phone use. Under 200 min/month and most of that is just idle chat with one person. But net access is becoming indispensable. A nimble browser, 4G and a solid non-dropping connection is a priority. Voice is important but not so much of a priority.

What Verizon phone to get? None. Who wants a phone that isn't capable of surfing the web while you are on the phone?

One more comment on the Win7 phones. They seem to have extremely long battery life. This has been the weakness of the leading edge Android phones - they run down the batteries. And now that phones are moving to 1.2 gig dual core CPUs, with huge superAMOLED displays (not to mention 3D displays),battery life is going to be even more of a challenge.
.
.
Win7 phones, despite having bleeding edge hardware seem to be offering outstanding battery life.

HTC and LG seem to be moving to more standardization in battery design. They are moving away from proprietary batteries. You can take the batteries out of one model and put it in newer models. This also lets you carry a spare.

>> Apple releases a new phone every year as a rule, with each release is a new OS,
>> They rarely offer that OS to 'old' phones with out it being purchased.

Of course you can upgrade the OS on your old iPhone. For free.

Re: WinMo there is no such thing.

WinMo phones have been replaced by Win7. You are behind the 8ball. The only place to find WinMo phones is on Craiglist or used on eBay.
.
I recently played around extensively with a new HTC Arrive Win7 phone. It is slick, sleek and something out of the next century. Made me want to take my WebOS phone and chuck it in the trashcan. Makes Android look amateurish and unfinished.
.
.

You can get a new Win7 Arrive for $49 to $149 with a new contract or $200 with a renewal. You can buy one outright without contract for $350. Radio Shack had them last week for that price.

I like Android but not as much as I like (liked) WebOS. But now that I've sampled the goodness of Win7, well....

There is a droid that will make me glow in the dark?!! I want it now, which model and carrier!!!eleven!1!

iPhone`s are released in June, if you want a sterile phone with a set UI and 'user experience' then it is the phone for you.
Yes I know they can be jailbroke with 1 click and blah blah blah, but seriously why should one have to do all that to enjoy something they own?
* Apple releases a new phone every year as a rule, with each release is a new OS, They rarely offer that OS to 'old' phones with out it being purchased.

WinMo Phones are pretty seasoned and come in a variety of flavors. I've only had 1 and it was returned in 3 weeks. So I will reserve judgement on them till such a time permits better use/investigation.
* I know M$ is working on WinMo 7 and not sure how they play the upgrade game but suspect you will lay out a few $$ if you chose to upgrade.

Android phones are the hot 'it' phone it seems. They range in price from free to $300~ on contract(as do most other phones)Come in a lot of popular models/shapes/sizes/configurations/carriers. Very little it can't do.
*Be careful as manufactures are slow or will not update your phone to the latest release of the Android OS.

If you are waiting on the next 'uber phone' you will wait forever. Every 3~ months another plateau is reached and anything else is just 'out-dated' junk :D
iPhone = everyone has one(so Apple/they want you to think)
WinMo = Business Power house with a fun streak (Think mullet)
Android = Sheik Geek/hacker. I want to be different like everyone else.

I'll say anything that is NOT Apple, or Moto. There are a few HTC/Samsung models out there that compete very strongly.

Moto blur is/will be the death of the Bionic. Besides they lock the boot loader so you can't root it.

Not enough info.
.

What are your needs? Talking? business apps? texting? are you a phone geek who wants to hack his handset? Tethering? Do you want a high fashion phone to wear on your belt? Do you want a full hardware keyboard or will a virtual one do?
